- Sid Lowe (in Spain) looks at Torres' move to Liverpool. I've pretty clearly missed the boat on commenting on this transfer, but I'll just say I'm refraining from judgment until the season starts, at least. It's nice to see us get a more traditional striker, and I've liked him internationally, so I'm optimistic.
- Speaking of transfers, Cisse's going to Marseille for good. It's about damn time, I say. I didn't like him when he was here, and I don't think we missed him when he was out on loan last season. Maybe he'll do better in France, but meh. Mostly I'm just glad we're clearing out some dead weight.
- And he's taking Zenden with him. Thank god. That's really all I've got on this one.
- Finally, my last word on the US at Copa America. I agree with a lot of this post, but honestly. The US's performance was pretty much a disaster. Not one they could have done a lot to prevent, but three-and-out shouldn't be something they're okay with.

While I agree with the NY Post's article, I'm still a bit miffed at the sending of a completely ameturish side. The Gold Cup being of higher priority is a non-issue. The Copa America represents a good measuring stick by which the US could test the progress of it's football abilities against some of the world's best. To bulk at such a challenge reflects poorly on the people running the USMNT and to pad wins with lack luster sides that were present in the Gold Cup only serves to give fragile/illusionary beliefs that the USMNT can play amongst the best in the WC.
Zoogs: the US can't help its conference, and it also can't help it if clubs decide not to release players for Copa America. Who would you suggest they should have called up that was available?
Given that the USMNT placed their prorities on the Gold Cup the roster for the Copa America was going to be weak especially when club teams wouldn't allow their players away for so long. I believe the rosters should have been flipped instead as the squad sent to Copa America would have won the Gold Cup.
Zoogs: That still wouldn't get around the issue of clubs being unwilling to release players for Copa America; since it's not the US's conference tournament, they don't have to. It may have made a difference for the MLS-based players, but I kind of doubt it would have for Europe.
