At least now we know a little Portugese.

Mourinho calls ref "son of a whore," escapes FA punishment.

"If you listen to me speaking I say the kind of word you mention 10 times in every 15 words," [Mourinho] said. "If you have a microphone on the dugout, I say that during the game 20 times, easy. The word can be abusive if you understand it as an abusive word."

Um, I think most people would consider that abusive, sunshine. The insult isn't the funny part of this, really, just his insistence that it wasn't supposed to be offensive. Seems like there should be more of a difference in how you talk to your players and how you talk to the refs. But I guess that's why I'm not the Special One.

*insert joke about JT's mom here*

So you've never used an offensive term in a throw-away sense? Banged your shin and said "motherfucker!" or anything even vaguely similar?

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot, it's Chelsea and it's an easy target.

So... Why does the world hate Chelsea again?

He also said, "I don't want to be offensive. I can be emotional but I am polite. ... The word can be abusive if you understand it as an abusive word ... I tell the word to my players and myself when I am not happy. It is something I say when the ball hits the post.'"

Or in Fat Frank's case, goes over the goal (to be fair, it was a nice free kick tonight -- it only deflected off the post).

And badgerdaddy, don't worry, everyone will be back to hating Man U by the end of this season. ;)

No, sadly they won't. I know both Arsenal and Liverpool supporters who want ManUre to win the title.

They forget that it was only recently that we claimed the British transfer record, something Man U have consistently broken. And worst of all, Liverpool fans forget when their club paid the highest wages in Britain and as a result got all the best players, pretty much. Not dissing any previous Liverpool manager's achievements, especially Shankly's as he was a God. What I'm saying is that if you have the best, you have a far better chance of success.

Sadly now players can become multi-millionaires just about anywhere, so the money is near-academic between England's top four clubs.

Anyhow, that's why I think Brian Clough's achievements with Nottingham Forest remain the greatest of any manager in England.

Enough of my bleating, dammit!

And Jen, let's not be dissing JT - just like United's Paul Scholes and Liverpool's Carragher, JT is the one Chelsea player no-one would turn down for their own team.

I'm not dissing JT, just his mom.

As for JT, sure I'd take him for United, but I'd probably leave him on the bench behind Ferdinand and Vidic.

badger daddy,

True enough about Clough. He was one helluvah good striker and a fantastic manager.

About the rest, it is a fairly normal reaction to hate on the team who is winning the league. In fact, it's a hallmark that the Blues have arrived, no matter how it happened. :)

They've written tons of studies on this, btw. (Mostly, boring analytical studies focusing on why everyone hates Man U, but I would say it happened to Arsenal too.)

Can't speak for the Gooners in the audience but I will *NEVER* back Man U(re) over anyone. Loathing is loathing. (When they played Rangers, I was sort of hoping for some sort of earthquake swallowing both teams whole before the game began. Alas it was not to be. Still, always good to see Rangers thrashed. :))

Jen, even Alex Ferguson wouldn't leave JT on the bench behind Ferdinand and Vidic. Ferguson was a huge fan of Tony Adams, and who does JT remind the world of...?
And I hear his mum's very nice, too.

Jenna, that's a fair point about the team winning the league. What irks is that supporters who have previously despised Man Ure for all they're worth are now backing them against Chelsea. Very, very sad.

Whenever I see any British club in Europe, I back them. Even Man Ure.

But then Chelsea don't have huge rivalry with many teams... Arsenal because for years we just couldn't beat them I guess... Not really with Man U, since we took more points off them at Old Trafford than anyone else has in the Premiership era.

Leeds, I think, are Chelsea's most hated. And even so, I still wouldn't wish their league position on their fans. Looks like they might go down to League One this season, which is awful for a club with support like that.

Maybe I'm just too damn nice.
